Sweden is a Scandinavian state, a constitutional monarchy located in Northern Europe. It is the fifth largest in Europe. It borders Norway to the west, Finland to the northeast, the Skagerrak straits and Kattegat to the southwest, the Baltic Sea and the Bothnian Gulf to the east. It also borders Denmark, Germany, Poland, Russia, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.

The Swedish economy is a modern, open and highly industrialized market economy. Despite the lack of significant reserves of minerals, Sweden has a well-developed energy sector, based mainly on hydroelectric power plants, has perfect transport and communication infrastructure, and a large number of well-trained specialists. The industrial sector is mainly focused on the production of high technology - power plant equipment, factories, precision machines, automobiles, spacecraft, aircraft, drugs and telecommunications equipment, as well as chemicals and paper. In contrast to the industry, agriculture is more limited, but at the same time it is highly productive. Cereal and leguminous crops (wheat, barley, oats, canning peas), forage, sugar beet, potatoes, fruits and vegetables are grown on the few fertile arable lands. Livestock is more widely used - sheep and deer are raised (in the far north). The fishing and canning industries are highly developed. Due to the freezing of the Gulf of Bothnia in the winter, the port of Luleå is closed and the export of iron ore is carried out by the freezing port of Narvik in Norway.
Exports: machinery, motor vehicles, paper products, pulp and wood, iron and steel products, chemicals (USA, Germany, Norway, United Kingdom, Denmark, Finland, Netherlands, France).
Imports: machinery, oil and petroleum products, foodstuffs, clothing (Germany, Denmark, United Kingdom, Norway, Netherlands, France, Finland, USA).
